It has been a tough start to the season for Paris Saint-Germain, and they are already playing catch-up in Ligue 1. But, can they get back on the right track at Reims this weekend?
Paris Saint-Germain seem to be getting back to somewhat near their best form, as they have won their last two. However, their two defeats to start the season mean that they are still in eighth place in Ligue 1. They lost their first two games of the season against Lens and Marseille, and in these two games, they didn’t score a goal. However, they have been much better in their last two, as they have scored four goals and are yet to concede.
The first of their wins came against Metz, with Julian Draxler scoring the winner in the 93rd minute. However, Abdou Diallo was sent off in this fixture, which is the fourth red card that they have had so far this season. This win against Metz was followed up with another success against Nice. Kylian Mbappe scored in the first half on his return to the starting line-up, before Angel Di Maria and Marquinhos ensured that PSG ran out comfortable 3-0 winners.
It has been a disappointing start to the season for Reims, as they currently find themselves in the bottom two of Ligue 1. Reims have started the season with three defeats from four games. They started the season with a hard-fought 2-2 draw at Monaco, but since then they have lost three on the bounce. They have conceded four goals in these three defeats, with the losses coming against Lille, Angers and Metz.
The most recent defeat was against Metz, as they were beaten 2-1. A red card to Marshall Munetsi changed the game from a Reims point of view, but they managed to hang on for the point until the closing stages when Ibrahima Niane scored the winner for Metz.
Reims have won two of the last three against PSG, with PSG’s only win coming in the semi-finals of the Coupe de la Ligue back in January. Reims won the only league game between the sides last season.
It has been a difficult start to the season for Metz, which means that it is hard to bet against PSG in this fixture. The French champions are showing signs of being back to their best, and there will likely be another goal for Mbappe in this game
