The early pace setters in La Liga will look to continue their excellent start to the new season this weekend as they welcome Huesca to town.
The form of Real Sociedad so far this season has caught everybody off guard, as they sit above Real Madrid and Barcelona at the top of La Liga. Very few people would argue against their current ranking in the league as they have been terrific in their first six league games this season. Sociedad have lost just once in these six fixtures, and have won on three occasions.
No team in La Liga has scored more than the current league leaders, while they also have the second best defensive record in the Spanish top flight. Further evidence of their excellent early season form was on display in their last league game against Betis. Sociedad ran out 3-0 winners in that match, with Portu, Mikel Oyarzabal and Adnan Januzaj scoring the goals. Sociedad were excellent in that match, as they effortlessly transitioned into the attacking third of their opponents.
It hasn’t been the best start for Huesca, as they are yet to win a game in La Liga this season. They have lost once in their six games, but five of their games have ended in draws to this point. That includes a run of four straight ties that they are currently on. The most recent draw that they claimed came against Valladolid. The travelling side were two ahead after 51 minutes, but Huesca fought back excellently to claim the draw. Rafa Mir pulled one back after 52 minutes, before Sandro Ramirez levelled the scored just four minutes later. That never say die attitude is a strong mental for this Huesca side, but they will need to win a first league game of the season soon.
Real Sociedad have an unbeaten record against Huesca, as they have won four of the previous six meetings. However, the travelling side this weekend would certainly have taken confidence from the 0-0 draw that they achieved in Sociedad last season.
Real Sociedad have been excellent so far this season, and the fact that they have an impressive record against Huesca only furthers their case for gamblers. We expect this to be a comfortable win for the home side.
