Real Sociedad’s tricky start to the new La Liga season has continued, and they will continue their search for a first league win of the campaign on Saturday when they play host Granada. The visitors are searching for a second win of the season.
It has been a testing start to the new La Liga season for Real Sociedad, as they look far from the side that managed to finish the previous campaign in the Champions League spots. Sociedad come into this fixture having gone their opening three matches without a win, while they have found the back of the net on just two occasions.
The Spanish side would have been extremely disappointed with their previous performance, as they couldn’t find the quality to land maximum points against newly promoted Las Palmas. Sociedad managed just a single shot on target against the minnows, as the sides played out a 0-0 draw. However, there would have been few complaints had Las Palmas landed maximum points in that fixture last Friday.
Granada currently sit below their rivals coming into the matches this weekend, but they have already landed a victory this term. They finally got off the mark for the new season last weekend, as they ended a two-game losing run by landing a hard-earned victory at home against Mallorca.
It was a thrilling fixture between the two sides, with the match-winning goal being netted from the penalty spot by Myrto Uzuni with just 20 minutes remaining. They held on well in the final stages to land maximum points, but they will likely not be able to afford Sociedad the same number of chances as they did Mallorca this weekend.
Sociedad have enjoyed this fixture in recent seasons, as they have won each of their last two, and three of their previous four against Granada. That includes a 2-0 win in this exact fixture last season. Granada are winless in their previous two trips to Sociedad since a 3-2 win in July 2020.
This could be one of the highest scoring fixtures in La Liga this weekend. Both sides have excellent quality in the final third, and neither have been without their issues defensively this term. Therefore, we will be siding with Sociedad to land victory, but both teams finding the back of the net.
