This term promises to be a big season for Real Sociedad, as they look to achieve a second straight finish in the Champions League spots. The Spanish club wasn’t able to get off to a strong start in their opening match of the new season, as they were held to a 1-1 draw at home against Girona. It certainly wasn’t the start to the new season that the home fans in attendance was expecting.

Life under Rafael Benitez at Celta Vigo also didn’t get off to the best of starts on matchday one in La Liga, as the visitors this weekend were comfortably beaten at home against Osasuna. The visitors scored a goal in either half to cruise to maximum points, and a response will be needed from Celta this weekend.
Celta struggled for long periods throughout last season, and they still appear short in the final third of the field. They managed eleven shots in the defeat, but they hit the target on just one occasion. Celta will need to be far more clinical against Sociedad this weekend.
Sociedad has won 14 of their previous 27 matches against Celta Vigo. Over that period, Celta has recorded just five wins, with eight matches ending in draws. Sociedad is unbeaten in their previous six against Celta, but the most recent encounter ended in a 1-1 draw in February.
This should be an interesting showdown between two sides that will need to improve after below-par showings on matchday one. However, Sociedad has the better quality across the field, and we expect them to bounce back in front of their home fans by claiming maximum points.
