Real Sociedad started their new year with disappointing results while hosting Villareal. This could be a sign that the real challenge to stay on the top five for European competitions next year has just begun.
This weekend, they will be visiting Estadio Benito Villamarin, Sevilla, to face off Real Betis. This local contender of Sevilla is still on the mid-table. This game for Nacho Monreal and Co to snatch three points but the host will definitely be taking on them fiercely.
Joan Francesc Ferrer’s men were still unable to win at the beginning of 2020. They were held in a 1-1 draw by Alaves in the away match. The former Sevilla and Barcelona wing-back, Aleix Vidal opened the score sheet for the host. Luckily, Emerson de Souza netted an equalizer to save them from another defeat.
Real Sociedad was actually already in progress for the top form before their loss against Villareal. Yet, such form had to stop two weeks ago. William Jose took the lead for them. Unfortunately, they could not protect their lead as the visitor made an impressive comeback. Manu Trigueros and Santi Cazorla bagged a goal to turn things over.
Real Betis under Francesc Ferrer tends to employ 4-1-4-1 formation. They rely on Loren Moron as the target man supported by the former wonderboy Sergio Canales and their most expensive player in the current squad, Nabil Fekir.
Meanwhile, Imanol Alguacil has been in favor of 4-3-3 formation with the transition to 4-2-3-1. He counts on William Jose as the main scorer supported by Real Madrid loanee, Martin Odegaard, Portu and Mikel Oyarzabal.
The current top performers in Real Betis are surely the Frenchman Nabil Fekir who has scored four goals and one assist, the senior winger 38-year-old Joaquin Sanchez with his six goals and two assists, plus former Barcelona and Dortmund man, Marc Bartra.
In Real Sociedad, the Norwegian wonderboy, Martin Odegaard is the current key figure of the team with four goals and five assists. Another notable one is Mikel Oyarzabal with seven goals and four assists plus Portu with five goals and assists each.
This is the clash that is potentially hard to predict. Betis might have the home advantage but their inconsistency remains their issue. The visitor seems to have a similar problem to resolve. However, Alguacil’s men should have a better chance to seal three points if Martin Odegaard and Co could regain their confidence and optimize their potentials for their first victory in 2020.
This upcoming game is expected to be even. The host is projected to win at 2.40, whereas Sociedad’s odd to win is not so much different at 2.70. The odds for the draw result are 3.70.
