It has been a very poor season for RB Leipzig, and they could yet miss out on qualification to the Champions League. They come into this fixture sitting fifth in the standings, as they sit two points adrift of Freiburg. Leipzig’s recent form has been fairly poor, as they have lost three of their last five matches. A recent upturn in form was ended last weekend, as they weren’t able to record three successive victories. 

Instead, they fell to a 2-0 away defeat against Bayer Leverkusen. That loss could yet prove crucial in the race for a Champions League spot, as they are in direct opposition with Leverkusen. To make matters worse for Leipzig, they saw Dominik Szoboszlai sent off with five minutes of the 90 remaining, meaning he’ll be unavailable this weekend. 

Hoffenheim is also battling for points at this late stage of the season, as their top-flight status is far from assured. They currently sit 14th in the standings, and they come into this match having failed to win each of their previous two in the Bundesliga. 

At present, they sit four points clear of the drop zone in the standings, but they will be keen to put last week’s defeat behind them. However, their loss against FC Köln was their only defeat in their previous five matches in the German top-flight.
