A lot was expected of RB Leipzig before a ball was kicked this season after they dismantled Bayern Munich in the Super Cup. However, those hopes were dashed slightly after a disappointing performance on the opening weekend. But, they have recovered well since that defeat and have won their last two to move up to fourth in the standings. 

A victory this weekend could see them move to the top of the standings, but they will need to win by a wide margin to achieve that. Leipzig comes into this fixture after potentially their best performance of the season in their most recent fixture, as they registered a commanding 3-0 win on the road against Union Berlin. Xavi Simons opened the scoring early in the first half, but Benjamin Sesko took the game away from the hosts with two brilliant goals in the final ten minutes.

It hasn’t been the start to the season that Augsburg would have been hoping for, as they currently sit in the bottom half of the standings after failing to pick up a victory from their opening three matches. However, they have picked up two points, and have suffered just one defeat in the Bundesliga. 

Augsburg picked up a second point of the season in their most recent fixture, as they played out a 2-2 tie against Bochum. It was a much-improved performance, but they still handed out too many chances to their rivals. Dion Drena Beijo scored the first goal of that game, before Ermedin Demirovic put Augsburg back ahead before the visitors equalised just two minutes later.
