PSG finally look to have overcame their wobble, and will be looking to extend their advantage at the summit with a second straight win this weekend. Reims are the visitors to Paris, as they search to end their three-game winless run.
It had been a shaky couple of weeks for PSG in Ligue 1. Going into last weekend’s game, they had drawn their of their previous four games in the league, which offered hope to Nice and Marseille, who were trying to track down the league leaders. However, PSG once again got back on top last weekend, as they picked up a victory to end a run of two straight draws.
It was a very controlled performance by PSG last weekend, as they never looked in danger of dropping points at home against Brest. In truth, they never needed to get out of second gear.
Their evening was made even more comfortable after Kylian Mbappe gave the Parisians the lead after 32 minutes. The job was complete early in the second half, as Thilo Kehrer extended the PSG lead just eight minutes after the interval.
Reims enjoyed a solid start to the season, and they will be thankful for that given the form that they have been in over recent weeks. They are winless in three coming into this fixture in the French capital, while they have picked up just a single victory in five.
Fortunately, they remain eight clear of the drop zone, but they will need to get back to form if they are to remain in Ligue 1 next season. Reims were beaten last weekend at home, as they fell to a 1-0 defeat against Metz. Despite having the majority of the possession in that game, they couldn’t make it count.
PSG have won the last three against Reims without conceding a goal. The Parisians have scored eight goals in those fixtures, with their latest win coming in August, as they won 2-0 away from home. Reims last won this fixture in Paris in September 2019.
PSG are far from their best form coming into this fixture, but they should still have enough to get the win if they are at the level that they were last weekend. Another comfortable evening could be in store for PSG, as we expect them to pick up a 2-0 victory.
