PSG have seamlessly moved to the top of the French league, and they will be looking to press home their advantage and build a lead at the summit. They will be able to open up a gap starting with a win this weekend against Bordeaux.
PSG have quickly got over their slow start to the Ligue 1 season, which was largely down to a number of their key players being missing after a prolonged finish to the Champions League. However, they come into this fixture in great form, as they have won four of their previous five in France. PSG are the highest scorers in the league and also have the best defensive record. However, there was disappointment in their last league fixture as they were beaten 3-2 by Monaco. Kylian Mbappe scored twice to put PSG in complete control, but they collapsed in the second half. However, they were able to put this behind them and claim victory in a must-win Champions League game against RB Leipzig last time out, with Neymar scoring the only goal.
Bordeaux already look set for a season of mid-table competition, as they have failed to find the consistency to move up the table at any speed. They have lost four games this season, and also won on four occasions. They have also been held on three occasions. Bordeaux struggle to score goals, as they have found the net on just ten occasions, but they also don’t concede that many goals. They have won just once their last three matches, with that victory coming last time out against Rennes. Former PSG star Hatem Ben Arfa scored the only goal of the game as they won 1-0 away from home.
PSG have enjoyed dominance in this fixture over recent years, as they are unbeaten in ten against Bordeaux. Bordeaux’s last win came back in 2015. PSG have won the last three meetings, with the most recent of those coming in a 4-3 success back in February.
Thomas Tuchel will likely make a number of changes for this fixture with a huge Champions League clash with Manchester United approaching, which means that Mbappe and Neymar may be rested. However, they will still have the quality to find a way through this Bordeaux side, and they will claim the three points in Paris.
