Inter Milan will be looking to extend their lead at the top of Serie A on Thursday evening, as they travel to Parma. But, will Antonio Conte’ side be able to continue their excellent form?
It has been an excellent season so far for Inter Milan, and judging by the form that they have shown, it could be likely that Antonio Conte will come through on his promise to deliver a Serie A title to the San Siro. Inter haven’t buckled under the pressure throughout the season to this point, as they needed to bide their time to wait for the perfect opportunity to move to the summit. They were in second place for much of the season up until a couple of weeks ago, when they finally reached the top of the league after going on a five-game winning run. That coupled with AC Milan’s recent negative results has seen a four-point gap emerge between the two sides. Inter couldn’t be in a much strong position coming into this stage of the season, as they have won their last five domestic fixtures.
Parma haven’t enjoyed the season that they would have been hoping for this term, as they find themselves back in 19th place. They need to pick up something from this game for very different reasons, as they are five points from safety, and also have the disadvantage of having played a game more than the side in 17th. Their recent form has shown signs of encouragement, as they haven’t lost in two, but Torino’s recent win means that they need to start picking up victories from games. Wins have been hard to come by this season for Parma though, as they have won just twice in 24 games so far this season.
Inter have an excellent record against Parma over the past four meetings, as they haven’t lost. They have picked up two victories, and have drawn on two occasions. Both of their wins during that run of games have come away from home.
The majority of Inter’s wins against Parma have come on the road, which means that this fixture will suit them. It’s incredibly hard to bet against the league leaders in this fixture, as they are in excellent form this term, while Parma have won just two games all season.
