It has been a disappointing season to this point for Atletico Madrid as they may have had hopes of finishing closer towards the title. However, they find themselves locked in a fight to secure a place in the Champions League. Atletico have a fight on their hands to achieve that as they are currently in sixth, and trail fourth-placed Real Sociedad by one point.
However, their form has been disappointing over their last five games as they have won just once. Their draw last time out against Athletic Bilbao was their third straight draw and highlighted the problems that Atletico have this season. They have won the joint-fewest games in the top nine of La Liga, and have drawn the highest number of games in the division. Diego Simeone will need to find a way to turn these draws into wins in order to achieve a Champions League finish.
Osasuna have a decent record against Atletico Madrid and have won six of the previous 22 meetings. Atletico have won the most amount of clashes, as they have 13 wins. There have also been three drawn matches between these two sides. Atletico have won the last three against Osasuna, and have eight victories in ten. The match earlier in the season ended in a 2-0 win for Atletico.
It is very hard to see anything other than a narrow victory for Atletico in this fixture. They have won the previous two fixtures without conceding, and that will once again be the case.
