Tottenham Hotspur got their Premier League campaign back on track last weekend, and they will be hoping to continue that upward trajectory when they visit Nottingham Forest on Friday evening.
A rocky run of results for Tottenham came to an end last weekend, as they finally got back on track with a comfortable home success against Newcastle United. The victory lifted Spurs up to fifth in the standings, and they are now just three points off the Champions League spots.
It was the response that Spurs fans would have been hoping for after going five matches without a win, as they landed a comfortable 4-1 success in front of their home fans against the Magpies. Richarlison started his first match after coming back from injury, and he netted twice in the success in North London. The victory was their biggest of the season alongside their 5-2 success at Burnley in September. Meanwhile, they have now netted the opening goal in more matches than any other side in the Premier League this term.
Steve Cooper remains in a job at the City Ground, but things continue to be nervy at Nottingham Forest, as they sit just five points clear of the bottom three spots. Cooper was faced with a must-not-lose showdown against Wolves over the previous weekend, and Forest would have taken confidence from the 1-1 draw that they were able to pick up.
They went ahead in that fixture after just 15 minutes, before Wolves struck back before the half time break. However, their form remains very weak, as they have now recorded just a single victory from their last 12 in the Premier League. Their only win over that period was a success against Aston Villa at the City Ground in November.
Tottenham completed the double over Forest last term, landing a 2-0 success at the City Ground in August. In fact, Spurs have picked up wins in three of the last four matches between these sides across all competitions. Forest’s only win was a 2-0 success in the EFL Cup in November 2022.
The pressure continues to increase on Cooper and his Forest side, and a big performance will be expected this weekend. However, we struggle to overlook Tottenham’s chances, as they bounced back to form in their previous match.
