After a five-match losing streak, Northern Ireland won 3-0 at home to San Marino. The convincing nature of the win gives them a robust basis and boost of confidence ahead of hosting leaders Slovenia on Tuesday.
In their seven Group H qualifying matches, Northern Ireland have won just twice and lost five matches. However, their performances have been relatively close; they have scored seven matches and conceded just eight times.
This will give them the belief that they can take something from their clash against Slovenia at Windsor Park on Tuesday.
