It has been a testing start to the 2023-24 season for Napoli, as they already face a fight to defend their title. However, they will see this week’s fixture against Udinese as the perfect opportunity to end a three-game winless run in Serie A.
It has been a challenging start to the new season for the reigning Italian champions, as Napoli have won just two of their opening five fixtures. That start to the season currently sees them sit in seventh overall, and they are already seven points off the top spot in the Serie A table.
Napoli have failed to win in their last three matches in the competition, which includes draws in each of the last two. Their most recent dropped points came on the road on Sunday evening, as they couldn’t find a way through against Bologna. Napoli enjoyed the majority of the possession, but they were wasteful in front of goal after failing to convert despite managing four shots on target.
Udinese could be a very good opponent for Napoli this week, as the Italian side are yet to land a victory in five attempts in Serie A so far this term. They have picked up just three points after drawing three straight matches, but they come into this fixture on Wednesday after suffering a second defeat of the campaign over the weekend.
Udinese were beaten 2-0 by Fiorentina in front of their own fans, but the game could have easily gone in the other direction. The hosts registered 20 shots, but could only find the target on eight occasions. Fiorentina were much more efficient in front of goal, as they scored from both efforts that they managed to get on target.
Bet hereThe previous encounter between these sides in April ended in a 1-1 draw. However, Napoli have still dominated the previous encounters, as they have won six of the previous seven. Udinese’s last win in this fixture was secured in April 2016, but they haven’t won away from home in Naples since April 2011.
Napoli may not have enjoyed the best start to the new season, but this appears to be a very winnable game on paper. We would be amazed if Napoli aren’t able to get their season back on track by picking up maximum points in Naples on Wednesday evening.
