Two of the teams in the top four in Serie A will meet this weekend, as Sassuolo will be looking to maintain their unbeaten start to the season. But, will they be able to hold off a competitive Napoli side?
Sassuolo have been one of the sides to catch the eye already this season, as they have won three of their five opening fixtures. They have begun the season in excellent form, as they are yet to lose a game. They are one of just three teams in Serie A that haven’t lost a fixture so far this season, and there will be optimism that they can continue that excellent run this weekend against Napoli.
Sassuolo are currently in third place in the Serie A table, and they have won three of their previous four fixtures. However, they will come into this game against Napoli having drawn last time out against Torino. It was an underwhelming performance by Sassuolo on that occasion, as many expected them to claim an easy three points against the team in the bottom three. Filip Durcic, Vlad Chirches and Francesco Caputo scored in the final 20 minutes to rescue a point.
Napoli are just a place higher than Sassuolo in the league table, and they will be aware that a win this weekend could see them end the weekend in the top spot. Napoli have been excellent over the opening weeks of the season, as they have won four of their five games so far. They will also come into this fixture having won their last two games, as they have beaten Benevento and Atalanta. The most recent of those wins was a success against Benevento. Lorenzo Insigne and Andrea Petagna scored the goals in the win for Napoli.
Napoli haven’t lost to Sassuolo in five years, and they have won three of the previous four fixtures. They have also won the last two matches against Sassuolo. The last time that the two teams met was in July, as Napoli ran out 2-0 winners.
It has been an excellent start to the season for Sassuolo, but we expect their unbeaten start to the season to come to an end this weekend. Napoli will claim the three points, as they emerge as a side that could potentially win Serie A this season.
