One of the most impressive club sides in Europe will be back in action in Serie A this weekend, as Napoli look to extend their advantage at the top of the Italian standings. They will come up against a Sassuolo side that has won three of their previous five.
It’s not hard to see why a lot of people are getting excited about Napoli this season, as the Italian giants have impressed both domestically in Serie A and in the Champions League this term. Napoli come into this 12th round of fixtures in the Italian top-flight having won their previous five games in Serie A, and they also still boast an unbeaten record.
The Italian giants have scored the most goals in Serie A so far this season, and also have one of the best defensive records, having allowed just nine. They maintained their excellent start to the season last weekend, as they battled to a 1-0 victory on the road against AS Roma. The only goal was scored in the final ten minutes, as Victor Osimhen broke the deadlock.
Sassuolo has also enjoyed a fairly solid start to the new season, as they sit just outside the European places in ninth. However, a European push this term already looks unlikely, as they are sit points behind seventh-placed Inter Milan at this stage of the campaign.
Sassuolo won for the third time in five fixtures in their previous fixture, as they claimed a 2-1 home win against Hellas Verona. The winning goal in that fixture was scored with 15 minutes remaining by Davide Frattesi. Meanwhile, the opening goal in the fixture was scored by Armand Lauriente, which pulled Sassuolo level after they had gone behind after two minutes.
Napoli have found wins against Sassuolo pretty difficult to come by, as they will be looking for back-to-back wins against their rivals for just the third time in their history. However, Sassuolo wins have also been hard to come by, as they have picked up just two victories in the previous 18 league fixtures against Napoli.
Napoli has started the new Serie A season in a very exciting manner, and they look excellent value to land another victory this weekend. We struggle to see past the front-runners in Serie A, and we could see them registering a 3-1 win.
