It has been a difficult season for the reigning champions this term, as they sit seventh in Serie A after 20 rounds of matches. They have recorded just nine wins this season, and they have already lost on seven occasions. They come into this semi-final after winning once in their last four, but that victory was recorded in their previous league outing.
Fiorentina will be making their fourth appears in the Supercoppa, and they will be looking to win the event for the second time in their history. They previously reached the final in 2001, but they were beaten in the final.
The Italian side earned their spot in the event after finishing as the runners up in the Coppa Italia last term. Fiorentina have made a bright start to the season, as they sit fourth in the current standings. However, they will be bidding to get back on track after failing to win in their previous two matches in Serie A.
Fiorentina landed a 3-1 win against Napoli in the first meeting between the sides this season in October. That success ended a two-game winless run against Napoli. It will be the first cup tie between the sides since Fiorentina landed a 5-2 win in the Coppa Italia in January 2022.
It has been a tricky season to this point for Napoli, and this looks to be a testing fixture on paper this week. Therefore, we could see Fiorentina landing a victory to reach a first Supercoppa final since 2001.
