The Serie A title is almost looking like a formality for Napoli at this stage, as they currently sit 13 points clear at the top of the standings. However, they will be keen to avoid any scares this weekend when they take on the winless Cremonese.
It has been a stunning season to this point for Napoli, but there will pressure on the team will continue to mount over the coming weeks as the Champions League resumes. However, their main goal this term will be to win the Serie A title, and they have given themselves an excellent opportunity to achieve that feat. Their advantage at the summit remains 13 points, and they have won each of their previous five since suffering a first defeat of the campaign against Inter Milan.
The team from Naples was once again in strong form last weekend, as they landed a straightforward 3-0 win on the road against Spezia. Victor Osimhen continued his excellent scoring run in that fixture by netting twice, while Khvicha Kvaratskhella also found the net from the penalty spot.
It already looks incredibly difficult to see Cremonese remaining in Serie A at the end of this season. They are still yet to pick up a victory in the league this season, and they have lost 13 of the 21 games that they have played. As well as that, they come into this match against the league leaders, having lost four of their previous five in Serie A.
Their most recent loss was suffered at home against Lecce, as they were beaten 2-0. Interestingly, Cremonese has excelled in the Coppa Italia this term, as they have already made it through to the semi-final stage. If they are able to transfer that form to the league, then they would have an enhanced chance of staying in the division.
Napoli picked up a straightforward 4-0 win on the road in the previous match between the sides in Serie A. However, since then, Cremonese knocked Napoli out of the Coppa Italia, eventually winning on penalties in the middle of last month.
Napoli may have been eliminated from the Coppa Italia by Cremonese last month, but we still find it hard to bet against them winning comfortably on Sunday against the side bottom in the Serie A standings. We could see Napoli running out 3-0 winners.
