Manchester City are the only team in the Premier League with a perfect record at this stage. They will be looking to continue their excellent start on Saturday when they come up against Marco Silva’s Fulham at the Etihad.
Manchester City are the only side remaining in the Premier League with a perfect record after three rounds of fixtures. It has been a dominant start to the new season for the reigning champions, and they will be heavily favoured in the betting this weekend to maintain that reliable start to the 2023-24 campaign.
City needed to ride their luck to maintain their excellent start to the new season, as they required a late Rodri winner to land maximum points against Sheffield United at Bramall Lane. The victory appeared to be slipping away in that fixture after United had equalised with just five minutes remaining. Erling Haaland also found the net in the win after missing a penalty in the opening 45 minutes.
Fulham will likely come into this match in good confidence, as they have impressed on the road already this term. The Cottagers landed maximum points against Everton in their first match away from Craven Cottage, before they battled to earn a point against Arsenal at the Emirates last weekend.
Fulham took a very early lead in that match after just a minute, before Joao Palhinha rescued a point with just three minutes of the 90 remaining. Silva’s side needed to show their battling qualities to hold on to a point at the Emirates, and they played the final ten minutes with ten men after Calvin Bassey was sent off.
Man City have won 17 of their 21 matches against Fulham in recent history, which includes victories in each of the last 14 across all competitions. Fulham’s most recent win against City was secured at the Etihad in April 2009. Each of the last two clashes have seen City run out as 2-1 winners, including most recently in April.
Fulham were excellent at the Emirates last weekend, but this appears a much trickier assignment without one of their best defenders. Therefore, we would be very surprised if Man City don’t claim maximum points in their final match before the international break.
