Manchester City continue their hunt for a fourth straight league title on Tuesday, as they look to move within one point of Liverpool. City will be desperate to get back to winning ways against Brentford after playing out a score draw with Chelsea on Saturday.
All eyes will be on Man City at the top of the Premier League standings on Tuesday, as the reigning champions bid to get back on track after playing out a 1-1 draw with Chelsea over the weekend. The reigning champions have still won four of their last five matches, but they are now four points off Liverpool.
There will also be pressure on Brentford this week, as the Bees continue to sit toward the bottom of the standings after losing three of their last four in the league. That run of form leaves them just six points above the relegation places, but they could move up a place in the standings with a shock win this week.
However, Man City’s record in home matches played in midweek is stunning. They have gone 47 without defeat in the Premier League since a 1-0 loss at home against Tottenham in May 2010. Meanwhile, City have recorded 26 wins from their last 27 matches in midweek at the Etihad, which includes victories in their last 12 in succession.
Brentford’s away form would be a concern ahead of this match, as they have suffered as many defeats on the road this term as they did throughout the entirety of last season. However, they did land a win at Wolves in their last match on the road. But, the Bees have still suffered defeats in seven of their previous eleven away from home.
City have recorded wins in six of their last eight home matches against the Bees. Their first loss was in December 1937, while they were also beaten 2-1 in this exact fixture last term. However, City recorded a 3-1 win in the previous match between the sides this season.
City’s record in midweek home matches in the Premier League is staggering, and it appears hard to bet against them getting their title challenge back on track on Tuesday. Therefore, we expect the reigning champions to land victory by at least a two-goal margin against the Bees.
