Lyon’s win against Manchester City was contentious, as the French side’s second goal shouldn’t have stood. Moussa Dembele ran clear on goal after tripping Aymeric Laporte before beating Ederson. The former Celtic striker scored his second of the game in the final stages just minutes after Raheem Sterling had missed an open goal to complete a memorable 3-1 victory. Maxwel Cornet did give the French side the lead in the first half, before Kevin De Bruyne equalised for City. Lyon were excellent on the counter-attack, and they will need to excel on that front again against Bayern.
