The Premier League returns after the international break this weekend, and there will be a huge game for Luton at Kenilworth Road. The hosts will be looking to end a five-game winless sequence when Crystal Palace visit on Saturday.
Luton have made an indifferent start to the Premier League this term, but they will be at least appeased that they currently sit outside of the bottom three spots in the league standings. The Hatters have won just once in 12 fixtures, but they have played out three draws. However, they come into the weekend after going five without a victory.
Crystal Palace will also be looking to step up their performance levels this weekend, as they come into this match after suffering three defeats in their previous four. However, a return to winning ways for the Eagles could see them end the weekend in the top half of the standings.
Luton will certainly need to start winning fixtures if they are to aid their chances of survival this term. Their one win this term is the fewest that they have picked up in a top-flight campaign since the 1974-75 campaign. A damning trend could be the fact that they suffered relegation in that season, but a success this weekend would open up a gap over the bottom three.
Meanwhile, the Eagles have been more productive on their travels this term than they have been at Selhurst Park. They have won five of their last eleven on the road since Roy Hodgson returned to the club, which is as many as they had managed in their previous 28 league away fixtures before that period. Only Man City have won more away games over the same period.
This will be the first time that these sides have clashed since a Championship meeting in 2006-07. However, four of the six meetings between these sides in the top-flight have ended level. That includes ties being played out in both fixtures during the 1991-92 season.
This could be one of the more challenging games to call this weekend. However, we find it challenging to overlook the trend of draws in this fixture when the sides meet in the top-flight. Therefore, a draw this weekend could be the most interesting betting selection.
