Luton Town will play their first Premier League home match since returning to the top-flight on Friday. West Ham United are the visitors to Kenilworth Road, as they look to continue their unbeaten start to the new season.
It has been an excellent rise through the divisions for Luton Town, and the day that many fans have been dreaming of finally arrives on Friday evening, as they play their first home match of the new season. Luton will be hoping to make home advantage count this weekend, as they are still without a win in two matches this term, leaving them in the bottom three places of the Premier League standings.
The newly promoted team suffered a second straight defeat on the road last Friday, as they were easily brushed aside at Stamford Bridge by Chelsea. Luton conceded twice in the final half an hour, and managed just a single shot on target in response against a positive Blues outfit. The defeat means that they have now allowed seven goals across their opening two matches, and they have netted just once.
Bet hereDavid Moyes will be delighted with the start to the season that his Hammers side have met. They currently sit second in the Premier League standings after failing to lose over their opening three matches. The Hammers were in excellent form on the south coast on matchday three, as they landed a shock 3-1 win over Brighton.
James Ward-Prowse capped an excellent day for the new signing by finding the net after 19 minutes. Further efforts were added by Jarrod Bowen and Michail Antonio in the second half. A victory on the road this weekend will send them top of the standings before Man City take to the field.
This will be the first clash between these sides since Luton landed a 3-2 win in the FA Cup in 1994. In fact, the Hammers are winless in their last four against Luton across all competitions, with their most recent win coming in 1992.
This should be an exciting first game of the season at Luton. However, it’s hard not to be impressed by the start to the season that the Hammers have made, meaning that we will be siding with West Ham on Friday.
