Champions Paris Saint-Germain remain two points clear at the top of Ligue 1 after a 4-0 win over third place Angers at the Parc des Princes.
The Parisiens have had something of a slow start to the season, but wasted no time in dismantling their opponents on Saturday with two first half goals from summer signings Pablo Sarabia and Mauro Icardi.
Goals from Idrissa Gueye and Neymar after the break put a shine on the performance and coach Thomas Tuchel will now be looking to more of the same after the international break.
Later on Saturday evening surprise package Nantes leapfrogged Angers into second with a 1-0 over Patrick Vieira’s Nice.
A goal from Moses Simon four minutes from time sealed the win and prevented Nice moving up into the top four.
Monaco and Lyon continue to struggle, both losing away from home to Montpellier and Saint-Etienne respectively.
The Monegasque side went three down within an hour at Stade de la Mosson before having Russian international Aleksandr Golovin sent off for two bookable offences.
On Sunday, Lyon suffered their third defeat in four league games after another late goal, this time from Les Verts forward Robert Beric.
Completing the top four is Bordeaux who beat Toulouse 3-1 in the south of France.
Goals from Nicolas de Preville, Pablo and Hwang Ui-Jo put them into a 3-0 lead before Efthymios Koulouris clawed one back.
Bordeaux moved up at the expense of Lille, who only managed a 2-2 draw with Nimes.
Toulouse fell into the bottom three following their defeat, with Nimes’ draw taking them up to 15th.
Metz are now bottom, after losing 2-0 at Brest, with Dijon up to 19th after beating Strasbourg.
PSG travel to Nice on the Friday after the international break with the rest of the league playing over the weekend.
