Lovers of German professional football have four games to look forward to from the Bundesliga on Tuesday evening. The highlight of the programme sees top-four challengers Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia Dortmund face off from 19:30 GMT in a game you can follow live on TV.
Bayer took the bragging rights when these sides last met but they were made to work for the points by a determined and free-scoring opponent, eventually edging the win with a stunning 4-3 final score. Volland netted a double that day but goals from Bailey and Bender inside 60 seconds proved the difference. Armchair fans will take great delight in the fact this fixture has produced a total of 26 goals in the last five renewals. More of the same here?
Leverkusen start the week sitting third in the Bundesliga with their stats for the season showing eight wins and five draws against three defeats. They have scored 30 goals at this stage but conceded 16 in as many starts. The home team’s tally of 29 points mean they are level with their opponents and one ahead of Union Berlin down in fifth but already seven off the pace set by Bayern Munich in pole position.

Despite their lofty position a closer look at Bayer’s recent form shows they enter this game suffering a dip in form having bagged just one of the last dozen points available to them, that barren spell made up of three defeats and a draw. They were last seen losing by a 1-0 scoreline at Union Berlin with the winning goal scored by Teucchert with 88 minutes on the clock.
Borussia Dortmund are fourth in the league after 16 games with 29 points on the board but, unlike their opponents, they are climbing the table thanks to a strong run of form. The visitors have suffered just one loss in their last five games at this level, winning three and drawing the spare. Dortmund are unbeaten in their last three, taking seven points from the nine up for grabs.
They arrive in town on the back of a draw, following two victories with a disappointing 1-1 end at home to Mainz on Saturday. It was a game Borussia were expected to win but they were lucky to get anything out of the day after falling behind to an Oztunali strike on 57 minutes, Meunier levelling for his men on 73 minutes.
Bayer have the home advantage but are under pressure to perform due to their recent poor results. There’s confidence in the away dressing room and Dortmund will believe they have the class to grab all three points and pile pressure on their hosts. Dortmund fans will see this as the perfect time to play a wounded Leverkusen.
Bayer Leverkusen are priced at 3.22 to win with Borussia Dortmund 2.09 at 22bet and the draw 3.78.
