Leverkusen come into the weekend with a two-point advantage over Bayern Munich, and they could stretch that advantage to five points should results go their way this weekend. Alonso’s side is in excellent form, as they have won each of their previous five matches in the Bundesliga. They were excellent once again last weekend, as they picked up a straightforward 3-0 win on the road against Werder Bremen. Borussia Dortmund will also have questions to answer this weekend, as they have dropped points in three of their previous four matches. That run of form has seen last season’s runners-up drop to fourth in the standings, and a defeat on Sunday could see them drop out of the Champions League places. 

However, Dortmund put a tricky period before the international break behind them on their return to action, as they were excellent in front of their home fans to record a 4-2 success against Borussia Monchengladbach. Dortmund started that game slowly, but they recovered to score four times, with the final effort being netted by Donyell Malen in second half injury time.
