It hasn’t been such a pleasing start to the new season for Darmstadt, as the newly promoted side currently sits in the automatic relegation places at this very early stage. They have lost each of their opening two matches this term, and have conceded five goals and scored just once. 

They were outclassed in their second match of the season, as they were easily beaten by table-topping Union Berlin in front of their home fans. Darmstadt conceded three inside the opening 45 minutes, despite the fact that the visitors were reduced to ten men after just 21 minutes. Marvin Mehlem at least gave the home fans something to cheer about, as he netted their first goal in the Bundesliga this term.
