We will start with Davos (HC Davos) – a professional Swiss hockey club from the city of Davos. One of the strongest and oldest clubs in Europe, founded in 1921. The team plays in the Swiss National League (National League A), which won the league 31 times – more often than any other club. HC Davos is also the organizer and participant of the oldest international tournament – Spengler Cup.
HC Oceláři Třinec – is a hockey club from Třinec, which performs in the Czech Extraleague. The team won the Extraleague twice – in the 2010/11 season, for the first time in their history, and for the second time in the 2018/19 season.
Ice hockey came to Trinec in the winter of 1929-30, when hockey players played on a frozen pond. The club, founded as HC “Trinec”, got its current name “Ocelari” in 1999.
Only in 1967 the first hockey stadium appeared, and in 1976 a roof was added to it. In 1979, the team first played in the second division and competed on the same level as the rest of the teams.
In 1995, 11 years after the construction of the new stadium, the team from Trinec made it to the top Czech league. In 1998 the club reached the final of the Extraleague, in 1999 became the bronze medalist of the championship. In 2011, for the first time in history, Trinec became the champion of the Czech Republic, in 2015 and 2018 reached the finals but lost. In 2019, the Ocelari won the Extraleague again.
HC TPS – is a Finnish hockey team from Turku which performs in Liiga.
The club was organized in 1922 as a football club. TPS is an abbreviation of Finnish “Turun Palloseura” – Turku Football Society (Turun – Finnish declension of the name of the city of Turku, pallo – ball, seura – society). The hockey section appeared after 1929. Until recently, the head coach of the team was the Finnish coach Kai Suikkanen, the former head coach of the Hockey club of the First League from the city of Kajaani, who led the TPS to gold medals in the 2009/2010 season. At the beginning of the 2010/2011 season, he headed the Lokomotiv hockey club (Yaroslavl). TPS became the champion of Finland in 1956, 1976, 1989, 1990, 1991, 1993, 1995, 1999, 2000, 2001 and 2010.
HC Ambri-Piotta (HC Ambrì-Piotta) is a professional hockey club representing the Swiss village of Ambri. The club performs in the Swiss National League.
The club was founded on September 19, 1937. Although Ambri-Piotta never became the champion of Switzerland, the club has also never left the elite Swiss league since it entered it in 1985. The club is based in the small Swiss village of Ambri, whose population is about 1,000 people. However, Ambri-Piotta has about 40 fan clubs throughout Europe. The main rival of Ambri-Piotta has been HC Lugano. An interesting feature of the home arena of the club is that out of 7,000 places, only 2000 are seats and 5 thousand are standing.
Salavat Yulaev – is a professional ice hockey club from Ufa, Russia, playing in the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL). Two-time champion of Russia (2007/08, 2010/11), winner of the Gagarin Cup (2010/2011), two-time winner of the Opening Cup (2008/2009, 2011/2012), winner of the Continent Cup (2009/2010).
In October 1960, by order of the management of the Ufa tool-making plant, a hockey section was established at the Salavat Yulaev Sports Club. In February 1961, the hockey team was named after Salavat Yulaev played the first match in Sverdlovsk. On November 25, 1961, Salavat Yulaev made its debut in Class B of the USSR Championship in Chelyabinsk, where the team lost to Metallurg – 1: 3. In 1964, the USSR Hockey Federation admitted Salavat Yulaev to the country’s championship in Class A. The first match in Class A, Salavat Yulaev held November 15, 1964, losing in Nizhny Tagil to the local Sputnik with a score of 5: 1. Until 1967, the Yulaevs played in the open air at the Trud Stadium. October 28, 1967, in Ufa, they opened the indoor ice palace, where the club performed until 2007. The first match at the Sports Palace took place on November 20, 1967.
In 1978, Salavat Yulaev first entered the top league of Soviet hockey, where they spent 5 seasons intermittently (1978/1979, 1980/1981, 1982/1983, 1985/1986 and 1986/1987). The highest achievement for the Soviet period is 11th place. Salavat Yulaev also spent 4 seasons in the First League (1979/1980, 1981/1982, 1983/1984, 1984/1985). The highest achievement was 2nd place.
In 1992, Salavat Yulaev was included in the MHL. In the 1992/93 season, in the 1/8 finals of the playoffs, the team lost to Yaroslavl Torpedo 0: 2 (2: 4, 5: 6 SO). In the 1993/94 season, the Salavat’s MHL team won the championship’s bronze medals for the first time and repeated this achievement in the next two seasons. In the Russian championship, they won gold twice (2007/2008, 2010/2011), silver (2013/2014) and bronze twice (2009/2010, 2015/2016). Salavat Yulaev for the first time won the regular championship in the 2007/08 season, gaining 125 points.
