Fiorentina certainly appears to be one of the teams that is growing into the Europa Conference League this season. They are already among the favoured sides to potentially win the competition, and they have done little to hinder their chances since the knockout rounds got underway. However, they showed that they could be a threat in the knockout rounds of the competition in the round of 16, as they recorded a handsome 5-0 aggregate success over Djurgarden. The latter of their wins was a fine 3-0 success on the road.

This will be the first clash between the sides since 2005. On that occasion, Fiorentina picked up a 2-0 away win against Poznan. However, the return match in Italy ended in a 2-1 success for the Polish side. In total, across the two previous showdowns, there has been an average of 2.5 goals per game.
