Juventus will have a golden opportunity to move to the top of the Serie A standings this weekend, as they bid to take full advantage of Inter Milan’s absence from the latest round. Lecce will be the hosts, but they have lost three of their last four.
Few could have foreseen the start to the season that Juventus have made this term, as the Old Lady were plagued with off-field issues before a ball was kicked in 2023-24. However, they have been excellent on the field throughout the campaign, winning 15 of their 20 matches, and suffering just a single defeat.
The Old Lady will have the perfect opportunity to move to the top of the standings this weekend, as they bid to record a fifth straight victory. Inter won’t have the opportunity to respond in the upcoming round, as they are competing in the Italian Super Cup in Saudi Arabia. Juventus maintained their excellent recent run of form in midweek by landing a 3-0 home success against Sassuolo. Dusan Vlahovic was the standout star in that win, netting a brace in the first half.
It’s likely that Lecce will be the massive outsiders to claim victory in this fixture on Sunday, as they come into the match after losing three of their last four matches in Serie A. That has seen the Italian side drop to 13th in the standings, and they are now just four points above the bottom three spots in the standings.
Lecce weren’t able to build on a recent draw in Serie A last weekend, as they suffered a seventh defeat of the campaign. That loss was suffered away from home against Lazio. They defended well in that fixture, restricting the side from Rome to just two shots on target. However, they offered very little in the final third.
Juventus appear hard to overlook this weekend, as they have won their last four matches against Lecce. Meanwhile, they haven’t suffered a league defeat against their rivals since a 2-0 loss in February 2011.
It looks hard to overlook the potential away victory this weekend. Juventus has an excellent record in this fixture, and they come into this round after winning each of their last four in Serie A. Therefore, we see the Old Lady claiming a comfortable 2-0 win on the road this weekend.
