Juventus’ winning run was brought to an end at the weekend, but they will be looking to get back to winning ways on Wednesday evening when Sassuolo are the visitors to Turin.
It was a slow start for the Old Lady in the 2021-22 season, but they have found their feet at last. Juventus can move into the Champions League places this week with a victory at home against Sassuolo.
Juventus have been in excellent form over their last five games, as they have won four times. Those four victories are the only four games that the Old Lady have won this season, as they did draw two and lose two over their first four fixtures. However, it has been a strong return to form, and one that leaves them just a point off the Champions League places.
A challenge for the league title may be more of a struggle, as Napoli and AC Milan are ten points clear of the Old Lady. Juventus fought back late in their last Serie A fixture to get a point against Inter, as Paulo Dybala scored from the spot with a minute remaining.
Sassuolo are in the bottom half of Serie A coming into their tenth fixture of the season. Their recent form has echoed their struggles, as they have found it hard to find consistency. They have won one, lost once and drew once in their last three games.
They have also scored 12 and conceded 12 in the league to this point. Sassuolo managed to record a first win in two at the weekend, as they beat Venezia 3-1 at home. Domenico Berardi and David Frattesi were among the scorers in that win on Saturday.
Juventus have won their last two against Sassuolo, scoring three goals in both wins. The Old Lady are also unbeaten in their last eleven against their visitors on Wednesday. Sassuolo’s only Serie A win against Juventus since 2013 came in the 2014-15 season, as they won 1-0 at home.
Sassuolo’s inconsistency makes them a very hard team to back in Serie A this season. However, Juventus seem to have finally found their form after a slow start to the new season. The Old Lady should get the win in front of their home fans to move into the Champions League spots.
