Inter Milan vs Atalanta Prediction: Serie A Match on 08.03.2021

Monday night football comes from Serie A as two big names from European football go head-to-head. Inter Milan welcome Atlanta for a game set to kick-off at 19:45 GMT and armchair fans across the world can follow the play live on television.

Inter Milan head into the match as favourites to win the title but they must continue their winning ways if they are to hold off the attentions of AC Milan and Juventus who are hot on their heels. Atalanta have hopes of finishing in the top-four and booking a spot in next season’s Champions League but they too face competition with Roma, Napoli and Lazio forcing the issue.

Inter shoot down AC in derby win

Inter Milan have been excellent this season and if they do go on and lift the trophy it will be well deserved. They take confidence from a stunning run of form that led to them taking control of the division and sending out a message of intent to their main rivals. Inter scored three goals when beating Lazio, AC Milan, and Genoa last month.

The most impressive of those wins was a 3-0 derby victory over AC Milan as the away team. Martinez scored a double that day with the other coming from Lukaku. Despite being billed as a 50/50 derby match, Inter had the points wrapped up within 66 minutes. A real show of strength and one that fans may look back on as a derby win that helped seal the title.

Atalanta fighting for the top-four

Atalanta have handled themselves well in this season’s Champions League but know they must qualify for next term’s competition if they are to continue to pull in the big money and improve. A top-four finish is expected by fans and the team are certainly on course to achieve just that, putting together an excellent run of form this winter. They won three games on the bounce to go level with Juventus at the end of February.

Atalanta beat Sampdoria 2-0 on the final day of last month with the goals scored by Malinovskiy and Gosens. They weren’t as strong in the Champions League, however, losing 1-0 at home against Spanish La Liga champions Real Madrid in the Round of 16. Atalanta handled themselves well that evening but had Freuler sent off early in the game making a difficult task almost impossible.

Inter Milan vs Atalanta prediction

This match promises to end another round of La Liga games in style with both teams pushing for all three points. Anything less than a victory for Inter Milan would see their rivals pile pressure on in the title race while Atalanta must win to fend off the challenge of teams looking to take their Champions League spot for next season.
