Hungary have enjoyed another fine qualifying campaign this year, as they bid to achieve a third straight appearance at the EUROs. They defied expectations in 2016 by reaching the round of 16, but they exited the tournament at the group stage in 2020. However, they have been in excellent form throughout the qualifying campaign this year after going six without defeat. 

That record sees them top the Group G standings coming into the final two rounds of matches, and they require just one more win to secure a top-two finish. However, victories in each of their remaining two matches will see them finish top of the standings. They endured a challenging October international window, as they played out a 2-2 draw against Lithuania after edging out Serbia in Budapest.

Montenegro aren’t yet completely out of the hunt for a finish in the top two spots in the standings, but they require victories in each of their remaining two matches to stand any chance. However, their hopes of reaching the EUROs next year do appear to be incredibly slim. 

The nation haven’t yet achieved qualification as an independent nation, with their previous appearances coming as part of Serbia and Yugoslavia. Montenegro will at least take confidence from the fact that they have improved their record in qualifying after failing to win a single match in the qualification campaign to reach EURO 2020.

Montenegro have landed two previous victories against their rivals, which includes a 2-1 success in September 2019.
