Hungary have made a solid start to Group G in EURO qualification, and they will be aiming to move closer to the top of the standings on Tuesday. Lithuania will be the visitors, as they are still chasing a first victory in this qualification campaign.
The race for the qualifying spots in Group G are heating up, with three sides in direct competition for two Group G spots. Hungary currently hold the advantage in the race for the second spot, as they are currently two points behind Serbia in the overall standings. They have won one of their opening two matches in Group G, and they have scored three goals.
Their excellent defensive record could yet be a key factor in the race for qualification in the group. They are yet to concede a goal in two matches, and have also played a game less than the side below them in the standings. They come into this match after playing out a 0-0 draw in their previous match in Group G against Montenegro.
Lithuania will be huge outsiders to finish in one of the top two qualifying spots in Group G, as they are yet to pick up a victory in two international matches in Group G. They have scored just one goal, and they have allowed three to this point. However, a victory could move them level on points with the sides sitting in second and third.
They come into this fixture after a battling display against Bulgaria in their previous international. Lithuania was forced to play for over 60 minutes with ten men, but they broke the deadlock after 15 minutes. However, they were holding on to a point in the final 20 minutes.
This will be the sixth international clash between these two sides. Hungary is unbeaten in previous encounters, having won on five previous occasions. That includes a 4-0 win in the most recent clash between the sides in June 2015.
This should be a straightforward fixture for Hungary in EURO qualification this week. They have started their campaign in excellent fashion, and they should have far too much quality in the final third for their rivals this week. Therefore, the preference is for the hosts to land a 3-0 home success.
