Hoffenheim’s campaign this season is considered quite positive. They are sitting comfortably on the seventh of the table with twenty-seven points, which are only three points away from the Champions League zone. This weekend will be their first match of 2020. Alfred Schreuder’s men will be hosting Eintracht Frankfurt, whose form has been degrading this season after a stunning one last year.

Olver Baumann and Co managed to seal a 2-1 win against Dortmund in the last game of 2019. They were one goal behind as Mario Goetze tucked in the goal in the first half. It took them about more than seventy-five minutes to equalise by Sargis Adamyan. This Armenian forward also contributed to the winning goal. He provided an assist for Andrej Kramaric’s header on the 87th minute.
Meanwhile, Adolf Hutter’s men had their fourth consecutive defeats at the end of 2019. In the last match, Frankfurt was beaten by Paderborn 1-2. They were simply hapless as they were two goals behind against this newly promoted team.
Abdelhamid Sabiri and Sebastian Schonlau took double lead first. Frankfurt had to wait till the last twenty minutes of the match as Bast Dost scored a consolation goal.
Alfred Schreuder tends to employ 4-2-3-1 with the transition of 4-3-3 formation. It seems to have worked quite well so far, including in their last match against Dortmund. He counts on the former Leicester City man, Andrej Kramaric supported by Sargis Adamyan and Ihlas Bebou.
On the other hand, Adolf Hutter’s regular 3-5-2 formation seems to be in need of a change. His 4-4-1-1 seems to be ineffective as well. He might need to consider 5-3-2 or 5-4-1 formation with a pragmatic approach and relying on the counter-attack and set-pieces more to create chances and goals.
In Hoffenheim squad, the current top performers are Andrej Kramaric with five goals, Czech right wing-back, Pavel Kaderabek with two goals and two assists and the Denmark international Robert Skov who plays more efficient as a wing-back instead of in his original position, striker. He has netted two goals and provided four assists.
In Frankfurt, the most notable figures in the team are the wing back Filip Kostic with one goal and five assists, the Portuguese international Goncalo Paciencia who has scored seven goals so far and the Austrian centre back, Martin Hinteregger who surprisingly has bagged six goals.
The disappointing run of Hutter’s men might continue here in ProZero Arena as Hoffenheim has been in progress of positive results, especially the previous one when they thumped Dortmund before the winter break. Another narrow win is on the home side.
Being the host surely leads Sebastian Rudy and Co as a slight favourite. They are priced to win at 2.30. The draw result is at 3.60, while the visitor’s win market is only at 2.85.
