It has been an excellent recovery by Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga over recent months, and they could now be in the conversation as a potential title challenger. Dortmund currently sits second in the league standings, while they are level on points with Bayern Munich coming into this round of games. The German side is the form side in the division at present, as they have picked up victories in each of their previous five matches. 

They continued their excellent run of form last weekend, as they picked up a 4-1 home victory over Hertha Berlin. Karim Adeyemi and Donyell Malen scored goals in the opening 45 minutes, before efforts in the final 15 minutes were netted by Marco Reus and Julian Brandt. Victory this weekend could see them rise to the top of the standings before Bayern Munich’s clash with Union on Sunday. 

Hoffenheim comes into this game on Saturday in a very different position, as they are currently perched just above the bottom three in the league standings. They have lost each of their previous four matches in the Bundesliga, and they could drop into the bottom three places with a home defeat this weekend. 

Their most recent loss came last Friday, as they were edged out by Augsburg on the road. Hoffenheim looked the most likely winner in that fixture, as they dominated the possession, and had the better chances. However, they were made to rue missed opportunities when their opponents went ahead with two minutes remaining.
