There will be a massive home match in Serie A this weekend for Hellas Verona, as they bid to move clear of the bottom three with a victory. Torino will be the visitors, and they should come into this clash in good confidence after going two without defeat.
It promises to be a thrilling end to the season in the battle to avoid relegation this term. Hellas Verona certainly appear to have momentum on their side, as they have moved out of the bottom three after losing just once in their previous three. At present, they hold a three-point advantage over 18th placed Spezia, but they could move up an additional place with a success this weekend.
Hellas Verona was excellent in their previous match, as they recorded a 1-0 win against Lecce. However, they haven’t kept two clean sheets in a row in the Italian top-flight since April 2014, as they landed victories in back-to-back matches against Genoa and Chievo.
Torino’s status in the top-flight for next season is already assured, as they sit comfortably above the bottom three places. They have very little to play for over the final weeks of the season, but they will be encouraged that they could potentially finish eighth with a strong finish. They could move up to that position this weekend with a victory on the road.
Torino comes into this form in good form, as they have registered wins in two of their previous four. Meanwhile, they have lost just once over their previous five matches. Their away record is also eye-catching over recent weeks, as they have collected ten points from their previous four on the road.
Interestingly, there have been 25 draws in 57 clashes between these two sides in the league. Verona has a poor home defensive record against Torino, as they have conceded at least once in each of their previous ten. Torino dominates the overall record, as they have registered 22 wins compared to the ten victories recorded by Verona.
Verona’s form coming into this fixture has been excellent, and they will feel as though survival has been achieved if they claim victory on Sunday. We could see them achieving that target, but we fully expect both teams to find the net on Sunday.
