Stuttgart will be looking to get back on track in the Bundesliga this weekend after suffering a rare defeat in their previous match. Heidenheim will have the home advantage, as they bid to end a three-game losing run.
It has been a very reliable start to the new Bundesliga season for Stuttgart, as the worries that they had surrounding relegation at the start of the season appear to be a thing of the past. The German side have won seven of their opening nine matches in the competition this term, and they could move to within a point of the top of the standings with a victory this weekend.
Stuttgart will need to get back on track in the Bundesliga though, as their four-match winning run was brought to an end last weekend. They would have been disappointed with that performance against Hoffenheim, as they found themselves 2-0 behind after just 21 minutes. But, they did bounce back in the DFB Pokal in midweek with a win over Union Berlin.
Heidenheim will also be looking for a response this weekend, as they have dropped down the Bundesliga standings quickly after losing three on the bounce. Despite that run of form, they remain 13th in the table, and they could move back up to eleventh if they are able to claim maximum points this weekend.
But, the fact that they have lost each of their last three, and four of their previous five in the competition would be a concern. They come into this showdown at home after losing back-to-back matches this week against Borussia Monchengladbach, with the latest of those coming in the DFB Pokal on Tuesday.
This will be the fifth competitive meeting between Heidenheim and Stuttgart since the start of 2016. However, all four of the previous meetings have come in the second tier. Stuttgart are unbeaten in the last three, landing a 3-0 win in the latest clash between the teams in January 2020.
This appears a good fixture on paper for Stuttgart to get back on track in the Bundesliga this weekend. They showed their quality in midweek domestic cup action against Union, and we could see them getting back on track in the Bundesliga with a 2-1 victory on the road on Sunday.
