The action in Group B rounds off on Tuesday, as the Netherlands look to conclude their campaign with a victory. They will be heavily favoured to achieve that when they come up against Gibraltar, who are yet to pick up a point in this stage of the competition.
It has been a decent enough qualifying campaign for the Netherlands, as they have assured their passage through to the EUROs next summer. However, the Dutch never appeared likely to challenge for the top spot in the group, as they have always been kept at arms length by France, who look set to finish six points above their rivals.
The Netherlands have bounced back from their second defeat in the qualifying campaign in excellent fashion after winning each of their previous two matches. Their latest success was achieved against Ireland over the weekend. The Dutch were professional in that success, with their winning goal being netted inside the opening eleven minutes by Wout Weghorst. However, they were unable to add a second in the second period.
Gibraltar was the first nation to crash out of contention in terms of qualification for the next round of the competition, as they have finished bottom of the Group B standings. They have failed to pick up a single point from their seven matches, having lost on all outings in the qualifying campaign.
Meanwhile, they have failed to find the back of the net in any match in Group B, and they have conceded a huge 35 goals. Their confidence is likely to be at an all-time low coming into this final group stage match, as they were hammered 14-0 by France in their latest outing over the weekend. They will need to defend much better in this clash.
This will be the fourth time that these nations will collide in an international fixture. The Dutch have won each of the previous three, scoring 16 goals in the process. Their latest win was a 3-0 home victory earlier in 2023.
This should be one of the most straightforward games to call in EURO qualification on Tuesday evening. The Netherlands should run out as comfortable winners, and we could see them easily covering the -2 spread.
