Germany vs Belgium Prediction: International Friendly Match 28.03.2023

After opening their Group F Euros qualifying campaign with a 0-3 win away to Sweden, Belgium will travel to Germany to face the hosts in a friendly match at RheinEnergieStadium on Tuesday from 18:45 GMT.

Germany are not taking part in the Euros qualification campaign because they have automatically qualified on account of being the hosts in 2024.

However, Germany’s manager Hansi Flick will be keen to rebuild his side after failing to make out of Group E in the Qatar 2022 World Cup. A friendly against Belgium will help gauge the progress of Die Mannschaft.

Belgium will also be looking to rebuild under new manager Domenico Tedesco after they also failed to make it past the group stage at the Qatar 2022 World Cup.

Key Highlights

Germany’s Road to Germany 2024

Hansi Flick will have massive expectations on his shoulder as Germany prepares to host Europe’s premier international football tournament. This will be made even more important after the 2014 World Cup winners failed to make it out of the group stages in Qatar.

Since they have automatically qualified, Germany have to tailor their friendlies to make them as competitive as possible to help them with the rebuild under Flick and preparation for next year’s showpiece football carnival across Germany.

The clash with Belgium will be crucial to this long-term preparation strategy. Belgium are involved in competitive football with their Euros qualification campaign. They will offer Germany a tough test on Tuesday and allow Die Mannschaft to gauge their progress under Hansi Flick.

Belgium’s Rebuild Under Domenico Tedesco

The exit of Roberto Martinez has provided a chance for the Red Devils to rebuild under Domenico Tedesco. The former RB Leipzig gaffer will look to stamp his imprint on this talented but underachieving Belgium national side.

They got off to a winning start in their matchday 1 of their UEFA Euros qualifiers in Group F by winning convincingly 0-3 away to Sweden.

The Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku, on loan at Italian side Inter Milan, grabbed a hattrick to drive his side to victory and off to a flyer in Group F.

Domenico Tedesco will seek to maintain momentum in the friendly clash against Germany. Although he will likely rotate his side to account for fatigue and protect some key players, he will still pick a strong side to face Germany.

Injury Report

The Belgium and German camps indicate that there are no injury or suspension issues ahead of this friendly clash.

This will be crucial for Domenico Tedesco and Hansi Flick as they look to pick strong teams for the match on Tuesday.

Domenico Tedesco might be forced to shuffle the pack of his side as he looks for freshness and protect other players from fatigue ahead of returning to their clubs and domestic action.

Possible Lineups

Germany

T. Courtois; A. Theate, J. Vertonghen, W. Faes, T. Castagne; Y. Ferreira Carrasco, A. Onana, K. De Bruyne; L. Trossard, R. Lukaku, D. Lukebakio

Belgium

M. Neuer; D. Raum, A. Rudiger, N. Sule, J. Kimmich; i. Gundogan, L. Goretzka; S. Gnabry, J. Musiala, L. Sane; T. Muller

Prediction

Germany will look to take control of the match through possession, building patiently from the back, and pressing across the pitch. They will look to control the midfield and launch their attacks through their wide players and advancing midfield players.

With their three in the middle, Belgium will compete favorably with Germany for the ball. They will also seek to use their counter-pressing to win the ball in attacking areas and create chances.

Germany are the favorites to win this match, which will bolster their confidence in the rebuild under Hansi Flick.
