An interesting London derby will take place in the Premier League on Sunday, as Fulham look to continue their fine recent run of form. West Ham will be the visitors, as they look to improve their place in the top half.
Marco Silva had come under pressure just a month ago, but the Portuguese coach has done an excellent job at settling the ship at Craven Cottage. Fulham come into the weekend sitting 12th in the standings, as they have won two of their last three matches. They could move into the top half of the table if they are able to gain maximum points this weekend.
David Moyes is also a manger with experience of pressure, as the Hammers boss seems to have been fighting for his job since winning the Europa Conference League last term. However, West Ham have made an encouraging start to the season, and they could climb into the top eight with wins in their next two matches.
The Hammers have often underperformed in Premier League away matches played on a Sunday, as they have lost seven of their last nine. That record is also worrying when you consider that they have lost four on the bounce since recording a 4-0 win at Bournemouth in April.
Fulham will also have a point to prove this weekend, as they have lost ten of their previous 13 matches played on a Sunday. Meanwhile, they are winless in their last eight over that period since a 3-2 win at Leeds United in October. At home, they are without a victory in their previous ten matches played on a Sunday since a 4-2 win against Burnley in August 2018.
Fulham’s record in this fixture would be a concern ahead of the weekend, as they have suffered defeats in five of their last six against the Hammers. Meanwhile, West Ham have picked up wins in 16 Premier League matches against the Cottagers.
Fulham’s staggering 5-0 home win over Forest in midweek was a shock to many, but it does highlight that their attacking play has improved in recent weeks. Therefore, we will be siding with the home side picking up a rare win against the Hammers this weekend.
