There will be an important game towards the bottom of the Premier League table on Monday evening, as Fulham will look to get their first three points of the season against Aston Villa.
Premier League Preview
It hasn’t been the start to the season that Scott Parker would have been hoping for, as Fulham have lost both of their games so far this season. There was a reminder of the difficulties that come with being in the Premier League in their opening game of the season as they were floored by Arsenal at Craven Cottage. However, there were signs of life against Leeds United in their most recent game. Parker’s side didn’t give up in that fixture despite trailing 4-1 at one point.
Goals from Aleksandar Mitrovic and Bobby Reid set up a tense last half an hour, and Fulham would have considered themselves unlikely as they struck the post in the final stages. Defensively, they weren’t good enough in that fixture, and they will have to improve at the back quickly if they have any hopes of staying in the division this season.
It was a decent start to the new season for Aston Villa as they won their opening match of the season at home against Sheffield United. The Villa were made to work hard for the three points, despite playing against ten-men for nearly 80 minutes of the contest.
Emiliano Martinez was the hero on his debut as he saved a penalty before Ezri Konsa wrapped up the three points with just under half an hour remaining. Ollie Watkins made his Premier League debut in that fixture, and he has already scored two goals in three competitive starts for the Villa. Bertrand Traore was also handed a first Villa start in the EFL Cup in mid-week, and he scored on his debut for the club against Bristol City.
Fulham vs Aston Villa Head To Head
Fulham have won the last three competitive meetings between these two sides, with Villa only winning twice against the side from Craven Cottage in the previous ten meetings.
Fulham vs Aston Villa Prediction
Despite having a poor record against Fulham, there is a fresh feeling about the Villa this season, and they could be targeting a much higher finish than 17th this term. They have done smart work over the summer, and they should get a comfortable win at Craven Cottage on Monday.
