After a tough start to the season Bayer Leverkusen have final started to show their best form in the league. However, they will need to maintain that form if they are going to achieve their aim of finishing in a Champions League place this season.
Bayer Leverkusen started the season with a stuttering run of form, but they have finally been able to get to a point near their best. Leverkusen kicked off the Bundesliga with three draws on the bounce as they looked to find the best formula to replace the talismanic Kai Havertz, who left the club for Chelsea.
However, it would seem as though they have found the winning formula once again over the past couple of weeks, as they have now won two in a row in the Bundesliga. Those wins have come against Augsburg and Mainz. The most recent of their victories was a 3-1 success against Augsburg, with Lucas Alario scoring twice in the victory. Meanwhile, there was also a late goal in the win for Moussa Diaby. Leverkusen will be looking to continue their unbeaten start to the season going against Freiburg.
Freiburg have been in disappointing form over the past four weeks, as they have been unable to build on the win that they recorded on the opening round of fixtures. Since that opening day three points, Freiburg have drawn three times and lost once. They will come into this game against Leverkusen having drawn their last two, with these results coming against Werder Bremen and Union Berlin. Their last game was against Union Berlin, as Vincenzo Grifo scored the only goal for Freiburg in the 1-1 draw. They will have to be much better to get anything from this game against Bayer Leverkusen.
There have been three draws in the past five meetings between these two sides. While, the other two fixtures during that stretch of games have been won by Bayer Leverkusen. Freiburg have beaten Bayer just once in the past ten meetings between the sides.
Bayer Leverkusen have been in excellent form over the past couple of weeks, and it does seem as though they have turned a corner. Freiburg have been struggling since the opening day, and it’s hard to see them getting the three points in this fixture against a rampant Leverkusen side.
