They previously won the Coppa Italia in 2001, just a few years before they went bankrupt. Fiorentina will be aiming to win the title for a seventh time on Wednesday, and they have surpassed expectations to reach this stage. 

Fiorentina entered the competition in the round of 16, where they overcame Sampdoria by a 1-0 scoreline. They then eliminated Torino in the quarterfinals to set up a showdown against Cremonese. The vast majority of the work was done in the first leg, as they landed a 2-0 win, before a 0-0 tie was played out in the return fixture.
