The Stadio Artemio Franchi will be the venue for the first leg of the Coppa Italia semi-final clash between the hosts Fiorentina and the visitors Atalanta, with kickoff slated for 19:00 GMT.
Fiorentina have won three matches without a win in Serie A in the lead-up to the first leg of the Coppa Italia first leg. Their poor form was compounded last Saturday when they lost 1-2 to Milan.
The loss dented Fiorentina’s hopes of fighting for a top-four berth in Serie A in the run-in. They currently sit 10 on the table with 43 points, 14 points off the top-four pace.
However, they will look to bounce back in front of the home supporters when they host Atalanta on Wednesday for a chance to make it into the Coppa Italia final, thus bolstering chances for silverware.
Atalanta dominated the match against Napoli last Saturday, winning 0-3 and taking the three points from a disappointed home side. This was Atalanta’s first win in four matches, a winless run that included two defeats and two draws.
They will look to maintain some of the momentum from the win away to Napoli into their trip to Fiorentina for the first leg.
However, being a two-legged semi-final means that Atalanta will not be gung-ho in their approach. A pragmatic approach will also mean they will remain in the match and take the decisive clash to the second leg at home.
Bet hereFiorentina and Atalanta have met each other 18 times since 2017, in all competitions. The two sides are evenly split, with six wins apiece, with 6 matches ending in draws.
Fiorentina have not reported fresh injury worries ahead of the home clash on Wednesday.
Atalanta will be without the injured attacking midfielder Charles De Ketelaere for the trip to Fiorentina.
The two sides will be pragmatic in their approach. Atalanta will win the away leg and position themselves well for the second leg at home.
