Everton vs Tottenham Prediction: FA Cup Match on 10.02.2021
We have an all Premier League match to look forward to when the FA Cup returns to our screens in midweek. English football’s famous knockout competition moves into the Fifth Round with the match of the day on Wednesday pairing Everton and Tottenham at Goodison Park. Which side will keep their dreams alive and progress to the next round?
The Toffees and Spurs have met a total of 10 times in the FA Cup already and there has been little between the teams. The head-to-head stats show Everton have five wins with Tottenham currently on four and the spare a draw. The sides last crossed paths in the Premier League in September when Everton nicked a 1-0 win in London, Dominic Calvert-Lewin scoring.
Toffees brush off Owls
Everton made it this far into the competition with a strong win over Sheffield Wednesday in the previous round, achieved late in January. The Toffees had home advantage again that day and made it count, easing to a 3-0 victory over their lower league opponents. Goals from Calvert-Lewin, Richarlison and Mina was enough to down the Owls and keep Everton in the cup. Fans know there are bigger challenges to come.
The home team are seventh in the Premier League after 21 games but remain within touching distance of the Champions League spots. 37 points on the board leave them three behind Liverpool and the top-four but they have two games in hand over last season’s champions. Unbeaten in their last two, they enter with confidence.
Spurs battle back at Wycombe
Tottenham progressed from the Fourth Round with an impressive away win over Wycombe Wanderers on 25 January. Faced with what was seen as a potential banana skin fixture, the London side eased to victory, recording a 4-1 win over their opponents from the Championship. Wycombe scored first in that game, but Bale equalised for Spurs before Winks and a Ndombele double finished off the Wanderers fight.
The visitors are eighth in the Premier League with 36 points on the board after 22 games. Jose Mourinho’s side were seen as title challengers last year, but a poor run of form has seen them fall off the pace. Spurs are now 14 points behind leaders Man City and have lost three of their last four in the league. A top-four finish looks to be their best hope of success this season.
Everton vs Tottenham prediction
Both teams are involved in the race for a top-four finish in the Premier League and that is more important to fans but the managers at Everton and Spurs know they must win a trophy this season after spending big. Both teams are capable of winning this game but it’s likely to be a tight and nervy 90 minutes of play.
