Welcome to a brand new month and another exciting round of fixtures from the English Premier League. The weekend schedule has something for everyone, including title battles and scraps at the bottom of the division. On this page, we focus our attention on the game from Goodison Park, where Everton hosts Tottenham from 12:30 GMT on Saturday. You can follow the match live on television and the best live streaming apps.
The Toffees and Spurs met earlier in this campaign in London, where Ange Postecoglou’s side won 2-1 a few days before Christmas in a competitive contest. Spurs were the favourites to win that game and lived up to expectations in they snatched the points, but a more convincing scoreline was predicted. Will we see another action-packed match as the sides clash on Merseyside?
Everton started the week down in 17th position in the Premier League, with their stats for the campaign earning them just 17 points, one more than bottom club Luton Town. Could the Toffees be dragged into a relegation fight and drop to the Championship? That’s the question many fans are asking, but those worried about Everton’s hopes of survival are late to the party as the club is already in a relegation fight.
The Toffees were woeful last season and haven’t offered much more to smile about this term. They were dreadful against Wolverhampton Wanderers when losing 3-0 at Molineux in December, and January wasn’t any better. The club needed two games to beat Crystal Palace in the FA Cup Third Round and lost 2-1 at home to Luton in the Fourth Round at this venue. Much of the support has had enough of the players, coaches, and board. We’ve seen tempers boil over more than once.
Tottenham Hotspur has put its fans through the wringer this season. They appointed former Celtic manager Postecoglou, to the annoyance of many. Still, the league’s first Australian boss hit the ground running and had Spurs at the top of the league during the better weather. When the grass was growing and the sun was shining, Tottenham was a real force in the Premier League title race. Despite a strong start, they began this week in fifth.
Bet hereThe visitors arrive on the back of an unconvincing run of form, and they’ve dropped points in games most fans expected them to win. Spurs beat Burnley 1-0 in the FA Cup Third Round at home, drew 2-2 with an out-of-form Manchester United at Old Trafford, and followed that share with a 1-0 home defeat to Man City in the FA Cup Fourth Round last weekend. Ange must help his side steady the ship as we enter an important run of EPL fixtures.
When previewing this game and studying the stats of both the Toffees and Spurs, we made a few interesting discoveries. Everton hasn’t beaten Tottenham since 2021, and that was in the FA Cup. Since then, Spurs have won 5-0, 2-0, and 2-1, with the other three games ending in a draw. We’re confident many Everton fans would see another share of the points as a decent result, given their team’s recent struggles.
Both teams have scored in each of the last two meetings of Everton and Tottenham, and armchair fans hope that run continues and we enjoy a few more goals in this renewal. If the teams are at their best, we’re sure to see chances at both ends, and it would be no surprise to see both teams get at least one goal each for the third game running.
