Everton will still be hopeful of achieving a European finish this season, but they will need to get back to winning ways. Meanwhile, Aston Villa will be looking to finish a strong season with a run of victories.
Premier League Preview
Everton still have a European finish in their sights, but they need to rediscover the consistency that they had in the early weeks of the season. The Toffees have struggled to put together a run of wins over their last six games, as they have picked up just one victory. Carlo Ancelotti’s side have drawn three times, and have lost twice during this run of fixtures. There is a three-point gap between themselves and fifth-place West Ham, while the top-four are currently six points away from Everton. The Toffees got a first win in five league games last weekend, as they beat Arsenal 1-0 at the Emirates. Everton had a huge slice of luck in that game, as Bernd Leno made one of the worst mistakes of the season to gift the travelling Toffees all three points.
Aston Villa’s charge towards the European places has also come to an abrupt end, as they have dropped into the bottom half of the Premier League table, having just won once in their last six league games. The Villa have been beaten three times in their last six. Dean Smith’s side ended their two-match losing run last weekend, as they managed to escape with a point against West Bromwich Albion. Keinan Davis scored in the 92nd minute to save a point. Anwar El Ghazi had given the home side the lead, before Albion turned the game on its head. Smith will be hoping for a much improved performance this weekend.
Everton vs Aston Villa Head To Head
Everton have an impressive record against Aston Villa, as they have lost against the Midlands side on just two occasions in the last 13 meetings. However, Villa are unbeaten in two against the Toffees, as they claimed a 1-1 draw in the most recent meeting between the sides in July last year.
Everton vs Aston Villa Prediction
Both sides involved in this fixture will be looking to end the season in good form after showing signs of improvement throughout the campaign. Villa have struggled without Jack Grealish, and we expect that struggle to continue, as Everton claim the points at Goodison this weekend.
