Real Betis remain in the hunt for a Champions League finish this term, but they will be aware that they will need to continue to pick up victories. At present, they sit four points outside of the top four, but they have responded well since losing back-to-back games by winning each of their previous two. Betis could yet be overtaken this weekend if they fall to defeat this weekend, and Rayo Vallecano pick up a victory. 

Betis showed their fighting qualities in their previous match in La Liga, as they claimed a 2-1 home victory against Valladolid last weekend. Juanmi put Betis ahead after just two minutes in that fixture, before the visitors levelled the scores after half an hour. However, Betis went back into the lead before the break, as Sergio Canales rattled home his penalty in the fourth minute of injury time. 

It would be a frankly ridiculous showing by Elche to remain in La Liga at this rate, as they sit bottom of the standings, having picked up just a single victory this season. They are currently 13 points from safety in the Spanish top-flight, and they come into this weekend after having already lost 15 of the 22 games that they have played this term. 

Elche wasn’t able to kick on after picking up a first win of the season, as they have been beaten in each of their previous two matches in La Liga. The latest of those was a dramatic home defeat against Espanyol. The winning goal in the match was scored in the 92nd minute.
