Borussia Dortmund already find themselves four points behind Bayern Munich at this early stage of this season, and desperately need a win this weekend to close that gap that they can’t afford to get any bigger.
Borussia Dortmund come into this weekend’s round of games in fourth place in the league table. They are already four points behind the reigning champions, and sit just one point inside the Champions League places. It hasn’t been the start that they would have been hoping for, as they have won six of their nine games. Their recent form also hasn’t been that impressive, as they have lost two of their last three games. Dortmund’s only win during this run came against Hertha Berlin. Last time out, they were beaten at home by FC Köln. Ellyes Skhiri scored both goals in the shock win for the visitors. Thorgen Hazard did pull one back for Dortmund, but it was too little too late. Dortmund were guilty of being wasteful in the final third of that game, as they recorded 16 shots in the game.
Eintracht Frankfurt’s strong start to the season seems like a lifetime ago now, as they are dropping down the table at an alarming speed. They have claimed wins on just two occasions this season, but are winless in their last six games. However, they have only been beaten on one occasion in the Bundesliga this term. Drawing games has been their issue, as they have picked up just one point in each of their last four games. It was an entertaining last outing for Frankfurt, as they drew 3-3 with Union Berlin. Andre Silva scored twice to take his tally for the season to seven. The equalising goal was scored by Bas Dost.
Frankfurt haven’t beaten Dortmund in seven attempts, with Dortmund winning on four occasions during this run. Frankfurt’s last win against their opponents this weekend came back in 2016. Dortmund claimed the most recent win, as they ran out 4-0 winners.
Frankfurt’s form will be a huge concern for gamblers coming into this game, as they don’t win or lose many games. However, Dortmund have the quality to inflict a second defeat of the season on the home side, and we believe that is the most likely result.
